Hello! My name is Massaya. I am originally from Thailand and currently work at Aria Audit Corporation. Today, I would like to introduce you to my hometown, Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai is a city I highly recommend when visiting Thailand. Located in the northern part of the country, it is surrounded by stunning natural landscapes and mountains, rich in culture, and boasts a variety of delicious local dishes. With so many attractions, it draws millions of tourists each year. Here are the top five activities I recommend during your visit to Chiang Mai.
First, don’t miss Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the city’s most significant landmark and a spiritual center for locals for centuries. Constructed in the 14th century, it showcases the beautiful northern Thai architectural style and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city.
Second, the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden features an extensive collection of plants from around the world. You can stroll through the expansive grounds, visit the rainforest glasshouse, or experience the canopy walkway that winds through the towering trees.
Third, the Chiang Mai Night Safari is one of the largest of its kind in the world. If you love animals, this unique experience is a must. The tram ride offers close encounters with various nocturnal animals, including giraffes and zebras, and the tiger show is an exciting highlight you won’t want to miss.
Next, Chiang Mai is renowned for its elephants, and I highly recommend visiting the Elephant Poopoopaper Park. Here, you can learn how to make paper from elephant poo and even try your hand at the process yourself. It is a fascinating experience to see how it all works! Additionally, the park offers DIY workshops where you can craft unique souvenirs to take home.
Finally, no trip to Chiang Mai is complete without trying Khao Soi, a beloved local dish. This Thai noodle soup features coconut curry and is topped with crispy fried noodles. In 2022, Khao Soi was recognized as the best soup in the world by TasteAtlas.com.
